Ars Viva recognizes the needs of the elderly and the physically challenged and has targeted this group for our outreach program. The elderly comprise a growing underserved population. To those who love great music, life without it is unthinkable. Yet so many senior citizens find themselves no longer able to attend concerts and enjoy live performances. Ars Viva’s mission is to take classical music to these members of our society so that they may enjoy the beauty of the music; so that they may feel both the excitement and the peace that music brings. Through a grant from the Hulda B. and Maurice L. Rothschild Foundation we are able to provide an extensive program to non-ambulatory senior citizens’ facilities in Chicago performing over seventy (70) concerts every year – each in a different facility.
In addition, Ars Viva provides complimentary tickets to area retirement and nursing home communities. Seniors who otherwise would not be able to attend a classical music concert are brought by bus to our concerts. Each season hundreds of seniors take part in this program.
